Conoco refinery in Ponca City Okla. tried a water flushing project that turned out to be a disaster. My family business was located across the street from the refinery(A Truck Stop) The refinery billed me for 500,000 gallons of fuel that was proven not delivered. The local attorneys tried to force me to sign an indemnity fund application saying that I had a leak despite proven tank and line test from the Okla. Corp. Comm. Stating that the location was in good standing. The refinery has already been declared a EPA Superfund Site and they want me a small businessman to take the blame.

I reported the outage on the Fenceline mailing list last night. At 7:49 AM this morning, two of the three instruments came back online. The South UV instrument did not, and the North UV instrument has not seen any detectable chemicals for days (in spite of measurable ozone on the rest of the planet) so it is also non-functional.

The message board on the website has not changed, saying all is well. There has been no response to the Fenceline mailing list by the refinery or contractor. It is 9:30AM 3/20/11.

In reference to the claims in C-P's push poll of "setting a bad example for our children" regarding the recent legal action by the Conoco-Phillips employee and the district, here's how it played out:

The plaintiff wanted the ballot language for Measure A to be stripped down to the following:

Shall John Swett Unified School District levy a special tax of $60 per parcel for four years, except industrial/commercial parcels levied at $0.0085 per square foot, for educational purposes?

Here is the ballot language the district agreed on:

To maintain academic programs including math, science, reading, writing, music, art, and computer technology and retain teachers and other staff, except Administrators, at Rodeo Hills Elementary, Carquinez Middle and John Swett and Willow High Schools; Shall John Swett Unified School District levy a Special tax of $60 per parcel for four years, except industrial/commercial parcels levied at $0.0085 per square foot (see voter pamphlet) with citizens’ oversight and other applicable accountability measures.

So, here is what district agreed to remove from the original ballot language:

                -highly qualified

                -Senior exemption

-and all funds spent locally and not taken by the State.

All in all the language was pretty much unchanged, but they wasted a day of our superintendent, a board member and her husband (Norma and Fred Clerici.) And the legal action was expensive for the district--I'll let you know how much when I hear definitively.

The district WAS taken to court.

By Conoco/Phillips & employee (the plaintiff)

Please someone phone the press. This would be a great story for the networks.

Small community; small school district; sleazy tactics by oil giant.

I see three other comments by you on this site. The first one needs to be approved (to avoid spam), and thereafter they are posted automatically. You should look again.

Your email address is not posted by default , but you can post it so people can get in touch with you. I think your comments

ConocoPhillips, you have done enough. Have you no sense of decency..., at long last? Have you left no sense of decency?

...You not only frighten me, you make me ashamed when there are so many in Crockett, Rodeo, Port Costa and Tormey. This is not a laughing matter, believe me. Are you alarmed at that situation, Messrs. Swenson and Hughes?
